Discovering My Calling Through Astrology

Discovering My Calling Through Astrology

For over 20 years, I have immersed myself in astrology, connecting with friends, clients, and students on their journeys of discovering this ancient field. A common thread in their stories is the profound crisis that often drove them to seek answers beyond conventional religion or psychology. As both a student and teacher of Sher Astrology, I feel compelled to share my own story—one that delves deeply into the spiritual dimensions of astrology.

Growing up, I never fit into any social group—not with the athletes, academics, or theater kids. I was a loner, unsure of where I belonged. I briefly joined the chorus because I loved singing, but not being able to read music quickly diminished my enthusiasm. Though I had friends, I never had a close-knit group to spend time with regularly. The fear that no one would show up if I hosted a party haunted me. At my 20-year high school reunion, I was surprised to learn that people had actually known who I was. Despite feeling like an outsider, I realized that even if I had been accepted by those groups, I wouldn’t have wanted to belong.

During my youth, I spent a lot of time observing and contemplating human nature. The pain, sadness, and anger I saw in the world led me to question the purpose of life, especially when we often treat each other so poorly. This sense of alienation was compounded by an intense spiritual experience—an overwhelming flood of transcendent love, which felt entirely out of place in the world I observed. My family wasn’t religious, and my brief stints at Sunday school left me disillusioned by the hypocrisy I saw—people acting one way inside the church and another outside of it.

For much of my life, I wrestled with existential questions and felt out of place. The church couldn’t answer my questions, and I had a hunch that therapy might not either. When I was about 20, an older neighbor who dabbled in astrology asked for my birth details and later gifted me a cassette tape of an astrology reading for my birthday. I was astonished by how much the reading resonated with me, despite the fact that we’d never met, and she knew very little about me. For the first time, I felt truly seen on a cosmic level.

It took over two decades before I returned to astrology, this time with a deeper desire to explore its answers to my lifelong questions. Through this study, I began to see the cosmic significance of my experiences and understand the spiritual insight I had received as a child. A quote by Rumi encapsulates my journey: “You are the universe in ecstatic motion. Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself. What you seek is seeking you.” This final line—”what you seek is seeking you”—speaks directly to the convergence of my personal search for meaning and astrology’s answers when both were ready to meet.

Astrology can serve as a powerful mirror, reflecting the unique roles and pathways open to each of us. As I found my own cosmic purpose through it, I invite you to explore whether astrology might similarly illuminate your path. Here are five steps you can explore.

5-Step Exploration into
Transpersonal Astrology

1) Reflect on Your Questions: Identify any deep, recurring questions or life experiences that feel significant to you.

2) Explore Transpersonal Astrology: Research or read about transpersonal astrology to gain a foundational understanding of its principles.

3) Seek Out a Reading: Find a reputable astrologer who can guide you through a personalized reading that speaks to your unique journey.

4) Join an Astrology Community: Engage with others exploring astrology, whether through classes, forums, or local groups, to learn and share experiences.

5) Stay Open to Insights: Allow your experiences and findings to guide you, helping you uncover more about your life purpose and role within the universe.

Through Transpersonal Astrology, I’ve learned about the greater cosmic roles we each fulfill—roles that often extend beyond our initial understanding of our lives.
Astrology has shown me that we are connected to a larger cosmic purpose, which includes, but also transcends, the everyday roles we play.
By following the threads of transpersonal astrology, I have not only discovered my calling but also gained insight into how each of us is part of a greater cosmic story.

If you are seeking to understand your place in the universe and your deeper calling, transpersonal astrology may be the key to unlocking that understanding—just as it has been for me.
